Integration of aerogel in adhesive joint
Aerogels are homogeneously bonded into an adhesive joint between nonwovens. The end product serves as a thermal barrier layer.

The challenge
The customer wished to mix the aerogel with the powder adhesive. The adhesive powder and aerogel should not separate, neither during transportation nor in the production process. We were also given high requirements in terms of production speed and heat resistance
The path to our solution
Bonding tests were carried out with different powder grain sizes. The results were discussed with the customer and the parameters for tests at the machine manufacturer were then defined. These were carried out successfully.
The solution
Four different products were developed, which our customer officially presented at Techtextil 2024 in Frankfurt.
